Get ready for the 2nd annual Top of Idaho
events! Runners of the 1 mile kids run, 5K, 10K,
or Half Marathon trail race will gather in
Mackay, the heart of the Lost River Valley, for
the most scenic running experience in Idaho.
Take in the views of the Lost River Mountains,
home of Mount Borah, as you compete against
friends and soon-to-be-friends on our fun and
challenging race courses, which will be marked
better this year! Water Stations will be added
to the half marathon!
Bigger, better, amazing prizes and commemorative
medals will be awarded to the top finishing men and women in each
age-category, as well as door prizes for which
all participants are eligible to win. Come join
us at the Top of Idaho for fun and
competition in a beautiful mountain setting!
All participants can pre-register by August 5th,
$10 for the 1 Mile Kids Run and $25 for the
other races. Participants can also register a
half an hour before each race August 17th at the
Kid’s Park. Prices will increase to $15 for the
1 Mile Kids Run and $30 for the other races. No
Bikes or Dogs Please!! All proceeds will benefit
the Mackay Chamber of Commerce. Follow the link

All races begin and end at the Kid’s Park in Mackay!
Half Marathon Trail Run
begins at 7:00 AM, 10K begins at 8:30 AM, 5K
begins at 8:45 AM, and the 1 Mile Kids Run
begins at 9:30AM.
Mackay offers an amazing opportunity
to run with nature. The courses have been set up
to view not only the town of Mackay, but the
surrounding mountains. Courses will wind through
town and the Historical Mine Hill.

1 Mile Kids Run
New this year is the 1 Mile Kids Run! We are
encouraging all participants under the age of 10
to join us for a1 mile run that begins at the
Kid’s Park, down to the elementary school, then
turns around to finish back at the Kid’s Park.
Let’s encourage our youth to lead physically
active lifestyles! Prizes for all participants!!
1 Mile Kids
The 5K Run/Walk begins at the Kid’s Park and winds through town.
Participants will go past the golf course and
head down Smelter Avenue towards the Historic
Mine Hill. Participants will run/walk to the
Smelter Bridge and turn around only to enjoy the
view of Mt. McCaleb! As participants take in the
breath taking Lost River range, they continue
past the school and finally back to the Kid’s
Park for the finish.
5K Course Detail:
The 10K Run begins at the Kid’s Park and winds through town. Participants
will go past the golf course and head down
Smelter Avenue towards the Historic Mine Hill.
The course continues up the Mine Hill only to
turn left towards Rabbit Peak. Participants then
turn right and continue up a mile and a half
only to join up with a connecting road that
takes them to the Mine Hill Road
where there is one last ascent to the Tram. The final
descent is down the Mine Hill, while enjoying
the Lost River view, past the school, and
finishing at the Kid’s Park.
The Half Marathon begins at the Kid’s Park and
immediately heads towards the Historic Mine
Hill. Participants will cross the Smelter Bridge
and begin the ascent up the Mine Hill.
Participants will turn left towards Rabbit Peak
and follow the trail around Rabbit Peak and
then turn left to continue up the Mine Hill to
connect to Alder Creek Road after 2 miles. The
route continues down the Mine Hill only to turn
left at the cattle guard. As you hit miles 8-10
you will wind through terrain that has some
spectacular views of the Lost River Range. As
participants head back to the Mine Hill road,
they will cross over to begin the descent down
Rabbit Peak road. Participants will enjoy a
beautiful run as they connect with the Mine Hill
road and begin the descent back to the Kid’s
Park for the finish!
Half Marathon Course Detail:
All participants will receive a t-shirt for their participation and
prizes will be awarded to the top male and
female in each category. The age categories are
Group 1: 10 and under in the 1 Mile Kids Run
Group 2: Ages 12 and under in the 5K, 10K, and
Group 3: Ages 13-18
Group 4: Ages 19 and up
