Mackay Rodeo – June 20, 2009. Appropriately
billed as "Idaho's Wildest Rodeo", you won't want to
miss the excitement! The event kicks off at 12:00PM on Saturday
with a parade through town, Rodeo starts at 2:00PM. This is an
open rodeo. The event is ONE DAY ONLY, this means we'll be packing
all of the Bull Riding into one action packed day. There will
be both timed and stock events. Rodeo grounds are located on the

Kids S.N.A.F. Day Camp - S.N.A.F. stands for: Science,
Nature, Astronomy, Radiation and Flight. Discover the scientist
in you. This will be a day of discovery and fun! For kids going
into 2nd grade up to 7th grade. Just some of the activities will
be: Construction of a Delta Dart Flyer, Volcano, Straw and Alkaseltzer
Rockets, Hover Crafts, and a Launcher to save Mr. Egg. Sponsored
by Idaho State University Continuing Education. You must be registered

Independence Day Celebration– 4th of July. An event
for all ages. The fun begins at the Kids Park, with games and
activities especially for youngsters. The park is located at the
corner of Elm Avenue and Spruce Street.
A.B.A.T.E. Motorcycle Rodeo – 4th of July.
Everything a cowboy does on the back of a horse, these guys do
on the back of a motorcycle (except buck out of a chute!). Held
at Mackay rodeo grounds, West end of Capitol Avenue. For more

Sammy’s Mini-Mart/Ivies Bestway Golf Tournament
– – Golfers from throughout the region play in
this fun and competitive tournament. All proceeds are turned over
to the Mackay Booster Club. The tournament is held at River Park
Golf Course, West end of Capitol Avenue. For more information

Custer County Fair – Generally the last
few days of July and first few day of Aug. Monday through Saturday.
This is an old-fashioned county fair, with homemade pies, preserves
and a fashion review showcasing the apparel made by the 4-H club.
Livestock showing all week ending with a livestock auction. Fun
for the entire family. Held at the Mackay Rodeo Grounds/Fair Grounds,

Annual Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation Banquet, Lost River Valley
Chapter – This annual event is one all sportsmen mark
on their calendar. It starts with a clay pigeon shoot and goes
right into archery shoot, then enjoy a fantastic banquet with
raffles and silent/loud auctions topping off the evening. The
auction and raffle items are spectacular. The next day the Elk
Foundation hosts a golf tournament at the River Park Golf Course.

White Knob Challenge Mountain Bike Race –
2nd of August. This grueling, 19-mile race takes mountain bikers
from downtown Mackay to the White Knob Mountains and back. For

Black Daisy Arts and Crafts - First Weekend in August,
downtown Mackay. Vendors from all over the Northwest as well as
local artisans and crafters from the Lost River Valley.

Mackay Chamber of Commerce Golf Scramble - Held at River

Mackay Free Barbecue –20th of September,
3rd Saturday in September, 11:30. ”Tons of Meat! It’s
Mackay’s Treat!” This free barbecue is an annual tradition
sponsored by local residents and businesses. The event draws over
3,000 people annually. Held at Tourist Park at the end of Vaden
Street.
Annual Cowboy Poetry Gathering – 3rd Saturday in
September, 5:00 at the Mackay Main Theater. It will be an evening
of rip-roaring laughter and top of the line entertainment, as
well seasoned artists perform poetry and ballads. For more information

Halloween Carnival – Halloween Night. Mackay High
School hosts a carnival for children and adults. Enjoy games,
bingo, and great food. Held in the Mackay High School gym, corner
of Rose Avenue and Spruce Street.
November
Christmas Bazaar – The Saturday before Thanksgiving.
Come and take care of your Christmas shopping at this festive
event featuring crafters from all over the area. Sponsored by
the South Custer Historical Society, the bazaar is traditionally
held at the elementary school cafeteria, corner of Rose Avenue

December
Annual North American Moose Foundation (N.A.M.F.)
International Convention – December , This fun
and educational event will include: Holiday booths, education
day, banquet, live and silent auction, raffles and a Moose calling

Mackay Christmas Festival – "There's Snow Place
Like Mackay". Downtown is lit-up and festive. Bring the family,
activities include Cookie decorating and a movie for the kids,
Arts and Craft Booths, Main Street entertainment and Startlight

Annual Easter Egg Hunt – 8th of April,
Saturday before Easter. This event is organized by the Lions &
Lady Lions Clubs. Club members furnish and hide Easter eggs for
children to find. Sometimes an egg will even be worth something
extra! Great fun for the kids! Held at Tourist Park, at the end
of Vaden Street.
May
Mackay High School Rodeo – Third weekend
in May. Part of the High School Rodeo circuit, this event is always
exciting. Held at Mackay rodeo grounds, West end of Capitol Avenue.
